Syracuse-Georgetown On College GameDay Schedule
By Sean Fernandez
The lovely, yet sometimes a little anti-Orange folks at ESPN have released the 2013 College GameDay schedule. On the eight Saturdays from January 19th to March 9th, the ‘GameDay’ crew will see some of the best teams in the country play at nine of the craziest venues. The Carrier Dome doesn’t appear on that list, but the Syracuse Orange do.
The Orange will travel to the nation’s capital to take on their arch-rival Georgetown on March 9th at 12:00pm. It is the first of two games scheduled for that date. After calling the SU-G’Town game, the crew will head to Chapel Hill, NC for another installment of the Duke vs. UNC rivalry at 9:00pm.
College GameDay has been on the air since 2005, but this year’s crew looks a little different than in years past. Rece Davis, Jay Bilas, Digger Phelps, and Jalen Rose will each share time on the air. Rose will take over for Hubert Davis, who recently left ESPN to take an assistant coaching position at UNC, his alma-mater.
After 30+ years of battling for Big East SU
premacy, Syracuse and Georgetown only have two games left against each other as members of the Big East. The first will be played at the Carrier Dome this year at a date TBA, and the second (and last) will be this March 9th clash. We’re all hoping that this rivalry continues when the Syracuse-to-the-ACC move is complete in 2013
, but both sides will approach the game as if it’s the last ever. The excitement level will be awesome, baby!
Although it’s disappointing that the final SU-G’Town game won’t be played at the Dome, there are still some quality games on the schedule. Here it is: January 19th
- Gonzaga at Butler, 9:00pm January 26th-
UNC at NC State, 7:00pm February 2nd-
Michigan at Indiana, 9:00pm February 9th-
Louisville at Notre Dame OR Pittsburgh at Cincinnati, 9:00pm February 16th
- Texas at Kansas, 9:00pm February 23rd-
Missouri at Kentucky, 9:00pm March 2nd-
Arizona at UCLA, 9:00pm March 9th
- Syracuse at Georgetown
& Duke at UNC, 9:00pm
