For those of you have been anxiously awaiting an announcement regarding the start of the 2012-2013 Syracuse basketball season, you're in luck. The SU Athletics Department released a statement today informing us that the Orange will open up with a pair of exhibition games in early-November.
The first will be played on Thursday, November 1st against the Division-II Pace University Settlers in the Carrier Dome. Coincidentally, the NBA season also tips off on that date. It's pretty much heaven for basketball fans, and it's only 78 days away (and counting...). The final exhibition will be played three days later, on the 4th of November at the Dome. It'll be played against another D2 team, the Bloomsburg University Huskies.
Pace finished the 2011-2012 campaign with a 13-14 record under the leadership of Coach Jim Harter. Their leading scorer is sophomore Denzel Primus-Devonish, who netted 13.4 points per game a year ago.
Last year, the Bloomsburg Huskies went 19-9 and qualified for the PSAC (Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference) playoffs in the process. They are coached by John Sanow, and are led in scoring by Dontahe Jordan, who added 15.9ppg.
To sum up their feelings about the game, Head Coach John Sanow had this to say.
