DeMatha high school won the Alhambra Catholic Invitational Tournament (ACIT) over the weekend. In action were 2012 Syracuse commit Jerami Grant, 2013 Syracuse target BeeJay Anya, and 2015 Syracuse target Isaiah Briscoe.
Anya is currently rated as the #1 center prospect in his class. He finished with six points and 10 rebounds in the tournament championship game and was named to the all-tournament team.
Briscoe was named tournament most outstanding player despite being only a freshman. He was also on the all-tournament team.
Jerami Grant was the real star, however. He scored 23 points, grabbed nine rebounds, and blocked four shots in the championship game on his way to being named MVP for the second consecutive year. Grant joined Anya and Briscoe on the all-tournament team.
Said DeMatha coach Mike Jones on Grant's performance, "He was a man possessed tonight. Every time down the floor he was asking to guard the guy who had just scored the last bucket. He wanted everything. He wanted every rebound, he wanted every tough defensive assignment. And honestly, if we could've run every play for him tonight, we would have. Because he wanted the ball every time."
