Instant Analysis: Kris Joseph Drafted By Boston
By Michael McAllister
There was growing concern that Kris Joseph may not get drafted leading up to Thursday night's NBA Draft. However, those concerns were dismissed as the Boston Celtics snagged the former Orange star with the 51st pick.
Joseph will join Orange teammate Fab Melo in Boston as the Celtics look to rebuild. The Celtics roster is thin right now, and the addition of Joseph gives them quality depth. In the second round, that's what NBA teams are looking for.
Kris will have plent to work on if he is to make an impact in the NBA. A classic "jack of all trades, master of none" player, Joseph must look to improve his handle and defense. He had far too many careless turnovers when attempting to drive to the basket. And there were defensive lapses at times. Adjusting to life in the NBA where players are bigger, stronger, and faster will be a challenge.
But Joseph does have some NBA-level skills. His step-back jumper is a lethal move. And he can hit open jumpers as well as finish in transition. He's a solid athlete with potential to be a contributor off the bench. As the Celtics look toward the future, Joseph has an excellent opportunity in front of him. Working with veterans like Paul Pierce and head coach Doc Rivers will benefit him as well. Follow Nation of Orange on twitter Like Nation of Orange on Facebook
