  • Getting To Know 2015 SG Malachi Richardson

    By Michael McAllister

Nation of Orange: How has your spring/summer been? What events have you played in and how have you done?

Malachi Richardson: My spring/summer has been excellent so far, picking up interest from UConn and Georgetown. I recently played in the Reebok Classic in Philly. I played well even though I had a high fever.

Nation of Orange: Besides UConn and Georgetown, who else is showing interest? Has anyone offered?

Malachi Richardson: Seton Hall, Rutgers, James Madison, and Miami have offered. Syracuse, Villanova, George Mason, Northwestern, DePaul, and St Joe's are showing interest.

Nation of Orange: Do you have any favorites right now?

Malachi Richardson: Too early to tell right now. But probably after a couple visits I'll definitely be able to choose my favorites.

Nation of Orange: Do you have any visits planned or scheduled?

Malachi Richardson: I'm going for an unofficial visit next Thursday at Rutgers. But I would love to visit each school showing interest.

Nation of Orange: Who has been recruiting you the hardest?

Malachi Richardson: Rutgers and Seton Hall.

Nation of Orange: What are you looking for in a school?

Malachi Richardson: At this point in time it's still early in the process. I'm not really looking for anything in particular. I'm just trying to get use to the whole recruiting process.

Nation of Orange: What do you like about Syracuse?

Malachi Richardson: I like 30,000 fans and the up-tempo style of play. They are fun to watch.

Nation of Orange: Who has been recruiting you from there and what have they told you?

Malachi Richardson: Coach Hopkins. He said he was very impressed with my game. He said it looked like I was having a lot of fun on the floor, and he would love for me to come up for a visit.

Nation of Orange: Tell us about your game and what type of player you are.

Malachi Richardson: Right now I'm known as a shooter, but I'm expanding my game. My strengths are my passing and basketball IQ. My weakness is my rebounding.

Nation of Orange: Tell us about yourself off the court. What do you do for fun and what kind of music do you listen to?

Malachi Richardson: I go to the gym for fun, but I love to hang with friends. I'm a laid back type of guy and fun to be around. I listen to hip-hop like Meek Mill, Jay Z, and Drake.
