2013 Pennsylvania quarterback Austin Wilson announced on twitter that he committed to Syracuse on Sunday. We spoke to Wilson and asked why Syracuse?
"Well it was a variety of things," said Wilson. "I fell in love with the campus, coaches, facilities, everything!" Syracuse and Eastern Michigan had both offered, but he told us that Pittsburgh, Rutgers, Maryland and Temple were all showing interest.
Wilson notified head coach Doug Marrone and offensive coordinator Nathanial Hackett. Wilson said he has a very good relationship with both coaches. Upon hearing Wilson's commitment, "They were ecstatic and couldn't be happier as I am," Wilson explained. "They told me that by getting me, it's going to help bring in even stronger recruits."
As far as Wilson in the field, "I am a pocket passer," Wilson told us, "with decent speed so I can move the chains with my feet. But I'm primarily a thrower, I have a strong arm. I believe I am a good leader, hard worker, and love the deep ball."
Wilson is the third commitment in the class of 2013 for the Orange.
